Bridges offers to work with govt on tackling climate change

From Morning Report, 7:35 am on 18 June 2018

The Opposition leader Simon Bridges is distancing himself from party MPs who argue climate change is bogus, saying the scientific evidence speaks for itself. And he won't rule out making farmers pay more for the cost of emissions. On Friday Mr Bridges announced a huge swing in National Party policy by offering to work with the government on a collaborative approach to tackling climate change. It's a drastic shift from previous leader Bill English who said he didn't see a case for even having the Climate Change Commission. Alex Perrottet spoke Mr Bridges a short time ago and asked him why he's made a u-turn.
