Cyclone Gita leaves devastation across Pacific

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 12 February 2018

A massive clean up is underway across Samoa and American Samoa after they bore the brunt of Tropical Cyclone Gita at the weekend. A disaster was declared in Samoa, more than 200 people sought emergency shelter, schools were closed and there are raised fears about sanitation and the spread of mosquito-borne dengue fever. Some parts of the country are still underwater as emergency teams work to restore power and running water to thousands of households. The cyclone is now moving across Tonga towards Fiji. Tongans have been urged to move away from low-lying areas. NIWA forecaster Chris Brandolino joins Susie Ferguson with the details.
