Man accused of wielding machete outside Wellington Hospital granted bail

A man accused of wielding a machete in a confrontation outside Wellington Hospital has been granted bail.

The altercation happened on Wednesday evening, when police said a second man responded to the machete threat by firing a gun in a hospital car park.

The 40-year-old man accused of having the machete has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

His bail was not opposed by police.

Officers are still hunting for the man who fired the gun.
