Port Hills housing announcement very close

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority says it's very close to making an announcement about 142 houses on the Port Hills that have had their zoning decisions reviewed.

Property owners, who have already been zoned either red or green, don't agree with their decisions and more assessments are being done to see if they should be changed.

Applications for review were submitted in October last year.

Recovery Authority chief executive Roger Sutton said a report on life risk in the Port Hills has recently been updated, which had delayed matters further.

Mr Sutton acknowledged that people are anxiously waiting to hear the outcomes of the review, but said it's essential the right decisions are made because safety is key.
