Flying Fijians rugby coach John McKee has named a familiar 30-man squad to tour Europe next month.
The team retains the bulk of the squad from June's Pacific Nations Cup, but does includes new faces in Tasman Makos lock, Tevita Cavubati, and Wellington Lions prop, Taniela Koroi, who both impressed in the New Zealand provincial competition.
UK-based midfielders Josh Matavesi and Vereniki Goneva have earned a recall to the national team while Seremaia Bai, Wame Lewaravu and Netani Talei have been ruled out due to injury and wingers Sireli Bobo and Napolioni Nalaga were unavailable for selection.
John McKee is happy with the mix on offer less than a year out from the Rugby World Cup.
"There's a couple of players coming back in, who were injured in June, so some of our more seniors players there, in terms of Goneva particularly - he's been in very very good form. At the other end there's some other players who get an opportunity. Alipate Ratuni [is] certainly the form winger in [French] Top 14 so far this season so he gets and opportunity there. He's played sevens for Fiji before [but] this is his first opportunity with the fifhteens."
The Flying Fijians play tests against France, Wales and the USA.
