Next year's IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy is to take place in Antofagasta in northern Chile.
Hosts Chile will be joined by Canada, Italy, Japan, Namibia, Portugal, Tonga and Uruguay at the tournament, from which the winning country is promoted to the elite Junior World Championship.
The chair of the Tonga Rugby Union, Epeli Taione, says it's important for them to win the tournament and return to the top ranks.
"It's the same approach we do in the national team, the 'Ikale Tahi, it's the same approach we do in the Under 19/Under 20 and I expect the Under 20 to be back in the main competition when they're away in Chile. We recognise the players' development pathways and to ensure that the production line of players will be healthy, will be identified properly and work on upskilling them for the next few years and that's one of our biggest priority at the moment is player development."
