Reports from French Polynesia say the home of the former president, Gaston Flosse, has been destroyed in a fire.
The cause of the fire is not known but reports say the residence above Pirae was seen with huge flames rising from it this morning.
Tahiti Infos says firefighters were powerless because none of the hydrants nearby was working.
Gaston Flosse is reportedly in New Zealand.
