The French Polynesian veteran politician Gaston Flosse, has signalled that he will take legal action against the Nouvelles de Tahiti newspaper for alleged defamation.
The warning comes amid continued reports of criminal investigations into the way he ran his presidency and the alleged massive fraud at the state-owend telecommunications company OPT.
Mr Flosse says the reporting has in part been defamatory and also made possible by violating the judicial investigation secrecy.
He is being probed over the way he ran an intelligence service.
Last week, his party was stunned by the arrest of Mr Flosse's personal secretary who joined other suspects in jail as the examination of the OPT continues.
She is suspected of corrupt activities linked to the running of the OPT.
