Papua New Guinea weightlifting champion, Dika Toua, has been invited to compete in the 53 kilogramme division at the Beijing Olympic qualifiers, later this month.

Toua made history at the age of 16 becoming the first woman to lift in Olympic competition - after years of lobbying to buy the sport's international body.

Toua was placed sixth in the 53 kilo division in Athens 2004 and won silver in the same class at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, despite a broken toe and being in the early stages of pregnancy.
