The newly-appointed French ambassador to Vanuatu, Pierre Mayaudon, has ended a three-day visit to New Caledonia, urging French entrepreneurs to invest more in Vanuatu.

Mr Mayaudon, who was appointed in September, told the Noumea Chamber of Commerce, that there were opportunities in Vanuatu, especially in public works and agriculture.

He said there was a real will from the Vanuatu government to open its market.

The French envoy also told the business leaders it intended to have one Vanuatu representative permanently posted in New Caledonia, in order to promote a "better flow" of information.
